1. Feminism

I meant to bring this up the other day after seeing BatB which stars Emma Watson who is a declared feminist.  From what I gather she refused to wear a corset (I don’t blame her for that) but other than that what makes her a feminist, how is she different to me?  I have never had a problem running my life as I want to and I can swear with the best of them - but only if seriously annoyed.  I have noticed the words tits and arse coming from Ms Watson but they aren’t swear words as such.  So what does she do that makes her a feminist because I don’t consider myself as such.  What exactly IS a feminist?

  2. Beauty and the Beast

First let me say I am not a fan of Emma Watson - I’m a bit long in the tooth to be a fan of anyone that young and I was not going to make a point of seeing this film.  However it’s Mothering Sunday here in the UK this coming weekend and my daughter decided to treat me to the cinema with a meal beforehand.  I’m going to be totally honest here - I loved it.  I’ve heard the comments about auto-tuning but we never noticed anything out of the ordinary and even the yellow dress looked better than I thouyght it would.  Emma’s acting was fine and so was everyone else’s.  My favourite was Gaston but they were all good.

  3. Terrorism

I can’t let today go by without commenting on the dreadful events in London and first my heartfelt sympathy to all the victims and their families.  My thanks to President Trump and the many people in the States and indeed all over Europe who have sent their good wishes and sympathy.  Indeed the victims come from Romania, France, Spain and Germany and from all walks of life.

I detest terrorism I won’t deny it and I had no sympathy at all for Martin McGuiness who was buried today, no matter what he did in the later stages of his life, those of us affected by the IRA bombings can’t forget or really forgive either.  As for the terrorist yesterday I’m afraid I would have left him dying on the ground with no anaesthetic at the time, however in the cooler atmosphere prevailing today I realise that would make me no better than him.  Apparently he was known to the police.  All I want to say is that if they are known Islamic terrorists then they should be deported to the first available muslin state who will take them in, they should NOT be kept here and this is where I can see what President Trump is trying to do and it may seem harsh but he is thinking of the safety of his American citizens, I only wish our Government would do the same.

  4. I’ve spent months trying to decide what theme to use for this blog and I can’t think of anything suitable that isn’t already covered by a lot of people.  The upshot is that I am just going to write what I think about current events, some history and some favourite people of mine and whether anyone reads it or takes any notice of it is up to them.   I did think of amending the title to “Thoughts of Chairman GG” but decided to leave it as it is because it covers just about anything I choose to write about.

Swedish Royal Family Challenge: Day 16- Favourite Chris O’Neill moments

During an interview with Skavlan, Chris O’Neill warmed the hearts of every viewer when he gushed about his love for his wife Madeleine. Before his wedding, Chris was seen by the public and press as quite standoffish and arrogant but during this interview he showed himself to be warm, loving and completely head over heels about Madeleine. Even his harshest critic fell a little bit in love with him!

Such a lovely couple, I’m older than both their ages added together but I do get a warm glow from seeing them so happy.

I’m British but I can’t help loving the Scandinavian Royals and the Swedish are my favourites.

October 14, 2016 - HM The Queen attends the unveiling of a portrait of her by British artist Henry Ward, marking six decades of patronage to the British Red Cross, at Windsor Castle.

Her face on the 7th pic is like “Yo is that really me?”

The look on the portrait’s face is awful - as though there is a nasty smell under her nose.   Poor Queen having to be gracious about such an awful portrait!

  8. I’m sorry but having had similar things happen in the UK I am always suspicious of women who suddenly “remember” assaults. Sir Cliff Richard had a lawsuit haning over him for a few years which turned out to be untrue. I have no axe to grind as I am...

I’m sorry but having had similar things happen in the UK I am always suspicious of women who suddenly “remember” assaults.  Sir Cliff Richard had a lawsuit haning over him for a few years which turned out to be untrue.   I have no axe to grind as I am not American and dislike both main candidates for different reasons but I do so hate this sort of dirt.

  9. Do you want to get Tumblr`s new messaging system?

    makeuphall:

To get it, someone with active messaging must write you.. As I already have it, I will message everyone who reblogs this.

Once you get the messaging, you help me and send a message to the person who also reblogs this message from you.

    Let`s start the chain reaction…

I really don’t understand this new messaging system but I guess this is the only way to find out about it.
